Lent 2018

Lent is a great time to let God challenge us to a closer relationship with him and, in particular, a deeper life of prayer. The Baptist and Anglican churches in and around Chudleigh, working with Chudleigh Primary School, have put together a variety of opportunities for us to hear and respond to God’s call to us.

"Seek the welfare of the people where I have placed you, and pray on their behalf" Jeremiah 29:7

Imagine what would happen if thousands of people were praying every day and hundreds of churches united in asking God for his will to be done.

Imagine whole communities becoming saturated with the presence of God and people forsaking what is wrong, experiencing his love and finding Christ every day.

Imagine people becoming interested in the message of Christ and widespread social change as people live in hope instead of despair.

Imagine discovering God to be near; answers to prayer becoming common place and church becoming truly glorious.

Imagine… revival.

Catching the Wave is a 40 day prayer guide encouraging us to pray for this. If you would like a personal challenge to pray as part of your journey through lent, download the guide or sign up for daily prompts at:

http://www.thereishope.co.uk/40-days/

If you prefer something more “hands on” for Lent, why not sign up to 40Acts – a generosity challenge for the 40 days of Lent?

This initiative from the UK Christian Charity, Stewardship, encourages us to move beyond giving up something for Lent, asking, “what if it could be a time of radical generosity as well as spiritual discipline?”

Receive daily emailed reflections and challenges to engage in acts of generosity – small, medium or large!

We hope you will find something in this programme for Lent that inspires you to get involved. However you choose to journey through Lent, may you know God’s leading and a joy in seeking the welfare of the people where he has placed you.
